Did you ever find that at the end of the day you still have things that you meant to do and forgot all about? That is why keeping a 'to do' list is so important, it is just a reminder of things that you want to get organized and places that you want to remove the clutter. It is our handy little guide to keep us on track and it makes us so good to cross things off that we accomplish. If you want to, add things at the bottom of the list of things that you find through-out the day that you would like to organize too. This can be your sart list for the next day.
You can name this list anything that you want to. Some people don't like a 'to do' list because it makes them anxious, so they call it a wish list (they wish these things were organized). Name it anything that you want to, it is your list of problem areas that you want to get under control.
This is one way of doing it, follow the example below:
My ‘TO DO’ List
For TODAY
Finally, We go to the EASY List! Why don’t I give you a little Example
of what a daily “TO DO” list might look like?
Bedroom Make bed
Bedroom Throw laundry down shoot
Kitchen Start supper--put meat on to fry
Kitchen Peel potatoes, put veggies in pot
Kitchen Clean out and wash out refrigerator
Kitchen Empty old stuff in fridge
Kitchen Throw out garbage bag
Kitchen Food is done- time to eat
Kitchen Wash dishes and put away
Washer Throw a load of Clothes in the washer
Kitchen Sweep floor
Kitchen Wipe Counters, stove and microwave
Kitchen Help kids with homework
Washer Cloths in the dryer. load in washer
(add your robe and p.j.’s)
Bathroom Get kids washed up for bed (tub)
Bathroom Wash mirrors, sink, toilet
Kitchen Give kids a treat before bed
Dryer Go fold clothes, put away
Kitchen Talk to family while folding clothes
Bedroom Put kids to bed
Bedroom Put your nice warm robe on and relax
Now see what you have all checked off and accomplished in one day.
You have taken care of:
making the bed;
getting the wash ready;
fed the family;
washed the kitchen;
cleaned out the refrigerator;
took out the garbage,
swept the kitchen floor,
did two loads of wash,
helped the kids with homework,
gave the kids a bath,
cleaned up the bathroom,
had time to talk to your family and all before 9:00.……YOUR GOOD!!
Now this is just an Example; I made it for 'working out of the home' parents, so you could see what could be done a little more efficiently.
There are some things on this list that you can DELEGATE to others to do, Kids could sweep the floor or do dishes, Dad could take out the garbage etc., which would give you time to do other small projects. Don’t forget to add one of the BIG things from this weeks list.
Every list will be different because we all have different lifestyles, their could be evening meetings to attend, things the children have to attend etc. This is where a Professional Organizer comes in handy, to set a system that works according to your life!
