Great-great grandma and grandpa didn't have all of the modern conveniences that we have now-a-days, nor did they have the types of medications that we do. However, they did have the kitchen cupboard that had just about every medical prescription and medication that you could think of. The old fashioned remedies, still work today although some of them are disguised with modern names, but you can still find them in your kitchen cupboard.
A Boil-
cover the boil with tomato paste (it is thicker, but any tomato product will do), let sit for about 30 minutes and repeat if necessary. The tomato will make the boil come to a head and will eliminate some of the pain.
Remove a splinter-
Place a small amount of glue or paste on top of the splinter, wait until it dries and then peel off the glue. You will remove the splinter at the same time.
Kill bugs, bees and wasps
Use a sprayer filled with ammonia (be sure not to get any in your eyes), or spray them with hair spray and they will be gone forever.
Keep screws tight
Whether it is small or large screws, all you have to do is coat the threads with clear finger nail polish before inserting. Never have loose screws again!
Speed a healing wound
Cover with a dab of honey and cover with a bandage overnight. Healing will excelerate and it also kills the bacteria.
Get rid of a sore throat-fast
Mix ¼ cup of vinegar, ¼ cup of honey and mix well. Take 1 Tablespoon six times a day, the vinegar will kill the bacteria and the honey wil sooth the throat lining.
Achy muscles are gone
Mix 1 Tablespoon of horseradish in 1 cup of olive oil and let sit for about 30 minutes. Now, gently apply to the irritated skin area above the inflamed muscle and massage into the skin.
Kill animal fleas instantly
Add a few drops of 'Dawn' dishwashing liquid, to your pet's shampoo, rinse well and goodbye fleas.
Stuffy Nose
Chew peppermint, the smell from the peppermint will open up even the worst stuffy nose.
Bruises
Soak a cotton ball in vinegar and tape it over the bruised area for about an hour. The vinegar will reduce the blueness in the bruised area.
Arthritis Pain
Mix 2 cups of Oatmeal with 1 cup of water and heat on medium heat until the oatmeal forms a warm paste. Apply this mixture to the area with the pain and let sit until it is cool. The oatmeal will relieve the pain and stiffness.
