We all get spills in the microwave. One of the toughest to clean is from a tomato based product, but it can be so easy to get out using these tips and hints on easy home cleaning shortcuts.
- Heat a dishcloth that has been soaked in water for about 5 minutes. (Don't remove cloth until it has cooled off or use a tongs to take it out of the microwave and place in the sink.) The steam from the rag will loosen anything that is stuck on the surface of the microwave and make it simple to wipe right off using a piece of paper toweling.
- Use baking soda as a scouring cleanser to wash outside and inside of the microwave. After you are finished wipe down with a solution of vinegar and water and wipe with a paper towel to get all of the residue off of the surface of the microwave.
- Add two small bowls to the microwave; fill one with water and the other one with vinegar, turn on high for 5 minutes and wipe the inside of the microwave with paper toweling.
- To give the microwave a fresh smell; add 2 tablespoons of lemon juice (Vanilla or Cinnamon can also be used) to a ½ cup of water, turn on high for 2 minutes and it will smell fresh and clean.
