This is the time of year that everyone should be happy, walk around singing Christmas Carols, visit with close friends and family and enjoy life, but what really happens?
Did you notice that the closer it gets to Christmas the more up-tight people get? They lose their tempers faster, seem to forget things easier and are racing around and not getting anyplace.
This is called
We may not realize it, but once stress takes over, it has a tendency to control every aspect of our lives. The house looks dirtier than usual, the kids seem naughtier than usual and life in general is total turmoil. So, what do we do about it?
We sit back, get a cup of coffee, soda or bottle of water and take a good look at things; the way they REALLY are. What are the things that are really bothering us?
Get out a piece of paper (Yes, that means making another list) and write down all of those nasty little things that are driving you crazy, all of the things that throw a block into your life. Now you have it all out in the open for you to take a really good look at.
How many of these things do you have control over? What can you correct and eliminate from your list right away? Number them according to priority with the #1 item being the one that drives you crazy the most.
Now, you need to get rid of that problem first so that the rest of the things don't look so bad. It's not that hard; take the time to only work on that one item.
If it is getting the presents wrapped, take one day to ONLY do that. Sure, you won't be getting anything else done that day, so what! The big ‘problem’ item will be gone; the rest won't look so bad and look at what you have accomplished!
If it is getting the cookies baked; use one of those recipes that you can make 7 different kinds of cookies at one time, you just add a different flavoring or color to each section of cookies and decorate in a different way. Its easy seven kinds of cookies, a full platter and you did it in one day. Now aren’t you smart?
It really isn’t so hard to eliminate stress when you look at the easiest possible way of accomplishing a task.
Now go through your list and do the rest of the jobs that bother you. ONE JOB AT A TIME! Remember, this one wasn’t very hard to get done and this was the worst one on the list.
No stress, no time limit = no jobs left on your list! It won’t be long and you will have gone through your list, everything will be finished and you will have that smile back on your face.
Merry Christmas and HAPPY Holidays to All
